Bollywood’s chart-topping composer Sachin Sanghvi — the “Sachin” from the acclaimed duo Sachin‑Jigar — has been arrested in a case that’s sending shockwaves through the industry. Known for tracks in hits like Stree 2 and Bhediya, Sanghvi was taken into custody on 23 October after a woman in her 20s filed a complaint alleging sexual assault.
According to police, the woman claims she came into contact with him via Instagram in February 2024. She alleges Sanghvi promised her a chance in his album — then later a proposal of marriage — only to invite her to his studio and assault her, multiple times.
Sanghvi was arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and spent some time in custody before being released on bail.
In response, his lawyer Aditya Mithe called the allegations “absolutely baseless and unsubstantiated,” stating there is “no merit to the case” and that Sanghvi’s detention was “illegal.”
Meanwhile, the duo Sachin-Jigar, whose latest release Thamma dropped just days earlier, is facing one of the toughest moments of its career. Sanghvi’s partner — composer Jigar Saraiya — has stayed silent so far.
The case is ongoing, and voices across Bollywood are watching closely.
